Only for professional and industrial applications
Osmo LED Smart-Oil is a high-quality, matt surface finish for curing with LED lamps for professional users. With only one coat, a microporous and breathable surface is produced, which is resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, water etc. according to DIN EN 12720 (formerly 68861-C). The dried coating is safe for humans, animals and plants. Resistant to saliva and perspiration as per DIN 53160, suitable for children's toys as per EN 71.3, food-safe as per DIN EN 1186-3.
Osmo LED Smart-Oil is suitable for all wooden stairs and furniture surfaces as well as all wooden floors. Especially suitable for resinous and oily wood species as well as public interiors, for which the immediate curing of the product is required.

Surface preparation:
The wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (max. 12 % moisture content). Osmo LED Smart-Oil is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use. Existing paint, varnish and lacquer surfaces must be completely removed. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood (Wood Filler or Wood Putty). Sand wood surfaces carefully. Begin with coarse sandpaper – final sanding work, clear: for flooring P100-120, for furniture P120-180. Final sanding work, coloured/Natural: for an intense colour und more surefootedness at least grit P100. For a harmonious colour grit P120-150. For furniture grit P120-180. Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
The finished surface and the product coverage are influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces. All information concerning product coverage and all colour likenesses refer to Oak sanded with P120-P150 grit.
Methods of Application:
Apply Osmo LED Smart-Oil thinly with a Double Blade Scraper or similar tools. In bevelled joints or other unclosed surfaces, apply LED Smart-Oil with a Microfibre Roller (partial application, no full surface application). Then buff in the oil and even out the surface with a single disc machine and a white or beige pad (for furniture, ideally with Osmo HandXcenter and white pad). Note: If streaks appear on the surface due to too much material, we recommend turning the pad over or replacing the pad. Afterwards cure the oil with a LED lamp (see Drying time) at a distance of minimum 2 cm to maximum 10 cm to the surface crosswise. For a satin sheen, apply two coats of LED Smart-Oil. After the first coat, sand the surface with fine grit sandpaper P240-P320 and apply the second coat very thinly (approx. 5-10 g/m²) and as described above even out the surface and cure.
Cleaning of tools:
With Osmo Brush Cleaner (free of aromatic compounds).
Drying time:
Immediately after the respective drying process, the coated wood can be stacked or further processed (intermediate sanding). Curing is carried out with one LED UV lamp**: Wavelength: 395 nm Distance: min. 2 cm max. 10 cm, ideally with a crosswise hand movement of approx. 10 m/min. LED lamp**: min. 8-watt lamp
Note:
LED Smart-Oil does not dry through oxidation. Without the radiation of suitable LED lamps or by using LED lamps with too little intensity or dose, the surface will not cure fully and cannot be used. Attention: Pour only small amounts of LED Smart-Oil into the roller tray or similar tools to avoid a premature reaction. When working with the liquid product, avoid exposure to direct sunlight and bright light with UV radiation (e.g. from conventional LED lamps) at all costs. If the surface is exposed to sunlight, the UV rays will cause it to cure while processing! Cover/darken windows if possible. Oils enhance the natural wood colour (permanent wet effect). For an almost natural-looking surface, use LED Smart-Oil 5984 Natural (no permanent wet effect). For hardwoods rich in extractives (e.g. Wengé, Merbau, Jatobá, etc.), a trial application is recommended. Can be dried with suitable LED handheld systems (see Drying time). For coloured LED Smart-Oils, apply the first coat coloured and the second coat clear (except for 5981 White). A coloured priming coat can also be applied with Osmo Oil Stain. Apply Oil Stain according to the product information and leave to dry for approx. 48 hours before applying a clear LED Smart-Oil.
Safety instructions for UV lamps:
Intense UV radiation during operation can damage the eyes and skin. Do not look directly into the switched-on lamp (risk of blindness). Reflected UV light can be just as dangerous as direct light. UV radiation can cause skin burns. Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions during operation. Always wear approved UV safety goggles or a UV protective shield (EN166:2002). Wear clothing that covers your skin. Additionally, use suitable skin protection (sunscreen). Never point the switched-on lamp at people or animals.
Caution:
Causes serious eye irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Avoid release to the environment. Wear protective gloves/eye protection. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention. Contains Gylcerol, propoxylated, ester with acrylic acid (< 6.5 mol PO); propylidynetrimethanol, ethoxylated, esters with acrylic acid, reaction products with diethylamine; propylidynetrimethanol, ethoxylated, esters with acrylic acid; Ethylphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphinate; EU limit value for this product (cat. A/i): 500 g/l VOC. This product contains max. 10 g/l VOC.
Disposal:
Dispose of product residuals according to the official guidelines (European Waste Code (EWC)-Code 08 01 11*). Only completely emptied cans can be recycled.
