Two-tone technique

MAKE WOOD TEXTURE POP

A really special effect: Combine two colours on one textured surface. The more texture the wood has, the more vibrant the surface will be. The two-tone technique completely alters the look of furniture, doors and wood panelling and adds bold accents. If you like the unusual, give it a try – You’ll love it!

TWO-TONE EXAMPLE COMBINATIONS

How it's done

Step 1

To create the two-colour design, the wood surface has to be textured. The best way to texturize the surface is with a drilling machine and a wire brush attachment. Gently glide the wire brush over the wood surface in the same direction as the wood grain.

Step 2

Without any primer, Osmo Wood Wax Finish is applied to the surface. Before applying, stir well so that all colour pigments are mixed into the finish.

Step 3

For our example of the two-tone technique, you need Osmo Wood Wax Finish 3125 Blue as the base colour and 3105 Yellow as the second colour. Osmo Wood Wax Finish makes the wood surface water and dirt repellent.

Step 4

Thinly apply the base colour with Osmo Flat Brush or Microfibre Roller. Always work with the wood grain and spread well.

Step 5

After drying for at least 24 hours, the surface can be coated with the second colour.

Step 6

Now you have to act fast. Before the second colour dries, wipe away the second coat with Osmo Rubber Scraper. Make sure to clean the Scraper between laps. The base colour is now visible on the raised surfaces and second colour stays in the grooves. Allow the finish to dry for another 24 hours.
