Specifically geared towards the needs of wooden flooring!
This wood coating uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product. Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original is dirt-resistant, water-repellent and abrasion-resistant, and smoothens the surface. Compared to conventional wood coatings, the use of plant ingredients creates an even colour and a more harmonious appearance. Simple application – no primer or sanding between coats needed – this saves time and money. Suitable for wood; microporous surface will not crack, peel, flake or blister. Resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with German DIN 68861-1A – no water spots. The dry coating is safe for humans, animals and plants (resistant to saliva and perspiration acc. German DIN 53160, suitable for children’s toys acc. EN 71.3).
Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original is ideal for the protection of all wooden floors, such as solid wood, plank, strip, OSB and cork flooring, as well as furniture surfaces.

NUMBER OF COATS
Two coats on raw wood; for renovations, normally one coat on the clean surface is sufficient – without sanding!

Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints, varnishes and lacquers must be completely removed. Always wear a dust mask during sanding works. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood (Wood Filler or Wood Putty). Sand wood surfaces carefully. Depending on wood species, begin with coarse sandpaper – final sanding work for flooring P100-120, for furniture P120-180. Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
The finished surface and the product coverage are influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces. All range specifications refer to Oak wood, sanded with P120-P150.
Thinly apply Polyx®-Oil Original clear /coloured with a Floor Brush (approx. 30m²/l recommended), Flat Brush (approx. 30 m²/l), Oil Finish Application Fleece (approx. 42 m²/l) or single disc machine (approx. 60 m²/l) along the wood grain and spread well. Leave to dry for approx. 8-10 (clear) and approx. 24 hours (coloured). Ventilate well. Transparent coloured stained effect: Within 20 minutes after application, wipe the product along the wood grain with a cloth or white pad. After drying, quickly apply a second coat also thinly. Important: Apply maximum one coloured coat to flooring. (Not applicable for 3040 and 3041/3044, see Notes.) When renovating an already oiled surface, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.
With Osmo Brush Cleaner (free of aromatic compounds).
Approx. 8-10 h (clear) and approx. 10-12 h (coloured/Natural) under normal climatic conditions (20-23°C/50-65% rel. humidity). Ventilate well while drying. Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity may increase drying times.
Oils enhance the natural tone of wood (permanent wet effect). Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time. Not recommended for dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.), Product recommendations available upon request or at www.osmo.com. Trial application is recommended. When applying Polyx®-Oil 3040 White, also use Polyx®-Oil 3040 White or 3041 Natural as the top coat to prevent yellowing. Apply Polyx®-Oil Original 3041 Natural as the first coat. To achieve the natural effect, use a clear matt Polyx®-Oil as the second coat. Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time. Caution: Apply max. one coat thinly to cabinet interiors and drawers with a cloth.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing.
If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand.
Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
Warning: Materials impregnated with liquid product, such as cloths, may self-ignite. After use, let the materials to dry completely either spread out flat or in a closed metal container and then dispose of them properly.
The dried finish is classified as B2 (normal flammability) according to DIN 4102 regulations.
Safety data sheet available on request.
Dispose of product residuals according to the official guidelines (European Waste Code (EWC)-Code 08 01 12). Only completely emptied cans can be recycled.
