NUMBER OF COATS
Two coats on raw wood; for renovations, normally one coat on the clean surface is sufficient – without sanding!

Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Osmo TopOil is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints, varnishes and lacquers must be completely removed. Always wear a dust mask while sanding. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood (with Osmo Wood Filler). Sand wood surfaces carefully. Begin with coarse sandpaper – final sanding work for furniture and worktops P120-180 or finer (depending on wood species). Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
The finished surface and the product coverage are influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
Apply the first coat thinly along the wood grain with an Osmo Microfibre Roller, Flat Brush or Finish Applicator Fleece. Spread well. (Do not wipe with a cloth afterwards!) Allow to dry for approx. 8-10 hours (clear coat) or 24 hours (colour coat/Natural). Ventilate well while drying. If desired, the dried clear coat can be sanded between coats with fine sandpaper (P240-360) or buffing fleece. Colour coats should be carefully sanded maximum with a buffing fleece or sanding sponge. (Remove sanding dust.) After drying, apply the second coat thinly and quickly. For sufficient resistance for e.g. washstands and kitchen worktops according to DIN 68861-1A, apply 2x approx. 30-40 ml/m². For renovations, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface with a Finish Applicator Fleece or lint-free cloth is usually sufficient.
With Osmo Brush Cleaner (free of aromatic compounds).
Approx. 8-10 h (clear) and approx. 24 h (coloured/Natural) under normal climatic conditions (20-23°C/50-65% rel. humidity). Ventilate well while drying. Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity may increase drying times.
TopOil 3028 Clear and 3058 Clear enhance the tone of wood (permanent wet effect). TopOil 3068 Natural for light-coloured wood species, e.g. Oak, Spruce and Maple, counteracts exactly this effect with a low whitish pigmentation and protects wood nearly invisibly. The natural colour tone of wood is preserved. On dark/reddish wood species, TopOil 3068 Natural is visible as slightly white chalky surface. Further pigmented transparent TopOil colours give the wood an elegant look. Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time. For cabinet interiors and drawers, apply max. one coat thinly with a cloth. Ventilate well while drying. If a higher gloss level is desired, after thoroughly drying apply Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner thinly and polish when dry. Wood surfaces treated with Osmo TopOil can be cleaned with a damp cloth and either Osmo Wash and Care diluted with water or Osmo Spray Cleaner and wiped dry. Use Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner to remove tough stains, which cleans and regenerates the surface at the same time.
Keep out of reach of children.
