Specifically geared towards the needs of wooden flooring!
This wood coating uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product. Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original is dirt-resistant, water-repellent and abrasion-resistant, and smoothens the surface. Compared to conventional wood coatings, the use of plant ingredients creates an even colour and a more harmonious appearance. Simple application – no primer or sanding between coats needed – this saves time and money. Suitable for wood; microporous surface will not crack, peel, flake or blister. Resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with German DIN 68861-1A – no water spots. The dry coating is safe for humans, animals and plants (resistant to saliva and perspiration acc. German DIN 53160, suitable for children’s toys acc. EN 71.3). The dry coating fulfils the requirements for flammability class B2 (normally flammable) according to DIN 4102.
Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original is ideal for the protection of all wooden floors, such as solid wood, plank, strip, OSB and cork flooring, as well as Stairs and furniture surfaces.

NUMBER OF COATS
Two coats on raw wood; for renovations, normally one coat on the clean surface is sufficient – without sanding!

Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Osmo Polyx®-Oil is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints, varnishes and lacquers must be completely removed. Always wear a dust mask during sanding works. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood (Wood Filler or Wood Putty). Sand wood surfaces carefully. Depending on wood species, begin with coarse sandpaper – final sanding work, clear: for flooring P100-120, for furniture P120-180. Final sanding work, coloured/Natural: for an intense colour und more surefootedness at least grit P100. For a harmonious colour grit P120-150. For furniture grit P120-180. Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
The finished surface and the product coverage are influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces. All Range specifications and colour views refer to oak wood, sanded with P120-P150.
Thinly apply along the wood grain with Osmo Flat Brush (approx. 35ml/m²) for small areas or edges and corners of flooring, with a Floor Brush (approx. 35 ml/m²) for coloured Polyx®-Oil on flooring, Finish Application Fleece (approx. 25 ml/m²) for clear/coloured Polyx®-Oil, Osmo Microfibre Roller (approx. 35 ml/m²) for clear Polyx®-Oil on flooring and stairs or Osmo HandXcenter or FloorXcenter with a white pad (approx. 16 ml/m²) for coloured Polyx®-Oil on flooring and spread well. (Do not wipe with a cloth or similar after applying!) Leave to dry for approx. 8-10 (clear) and approx. 24 hours (coloured/Natural). Ventilate well. If a surface in furniture quality is desired, the dried clear coat can be sanded (P240-260 grit) between coats. Sand coloured coats maximum with a green or black pad. After drying, apply the second coat also thinly and quickly. For sufficient resistance for e.g. washstands and kitchen worktops according to DIN 68861-1A, apply 2x approx. 30-40 ml/m². Important: Apply maximum one coloured coat to flooring. (Not applicable for 3040 and 3041/3044, see Notes.) When renovating an already oiled surface, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.
With Osmo Brush Cleaner (free of aromatic compounds).
Approx. 8-10 h (clear) and approx. 24 h (coloured/Natural) under normal climatic conditions (20-23°C/50-65% rel. humidity). Ventilate well while drying. Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity may increase drying times significantly.
Oils enhance the natural tone of wood (permanent wet effect). Polyx®-Oil Original 3041 Natural as a base coat counteracts this effect thanks to a low content of white pigments. It creates a natural looking surface on light-coloured European wood species, such as Oak, Ash, Pine etc. Apply Polyx®-Oil 3041 Natural for the 1st coat. For the second coat, use a clear matt Polyx®-Oil to produce the natural look. Trial application recommended. For Polyx®-Oil 3040 White, use also 3040 White or 3041 Natural as the top coat to prevent yellowing. !Attention! The following applies to all Polyx®-Oil variants: Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time. Caution: Apply max. one coat thinly to cabinet interiors and drawers with a cloth. Not recommended for dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.), Product recommendations available upon request or at www.osmo.com.
Keep out of reach of children.
